2025 DIVISIONS & STANDARDS

DIVISIONS & Standards

Teams must be comprised of 4 members: 2 Men and 2 Women. Athletes WILL NOT be required to be from the same gym.

Divisions:

Rx - All teammates have the ability to perform all movements as prescribed including high-skill gymnastics. Expect multiple synchro workouts with mixed pairs and same sex.

Intermediate - New Division Alert - All teammates generally have the skill to Rx workouts but may not be able to move heavy load in workouts or perform high volume high skill gymnastics. Not every athlete will be required to do MU’s, but they will be tested so at least 1 athlete will need to have this skill as well as performing other high skill gymnastics like Handstand Walking. If you have finished in the top half of scaled in the past, this division is for you!

Masters - This division requires the minimum age of all athletes combined to be 160 years old by the first day of the event(October 17, 2025). Skills tested will include high skill gymnastics but not all athletes will be required to have those skills mastered. This division will be tested similar to the Intermediate field. You generally have the skills to Rx all workouts but may lack the ability to move heavy load for high repetitions or perform high skill gymnastics at volume or synchronized.

Scaled - In the past, this has been our most popular division with a WIDE variety of skills. We encourage those athletes that have finished in the top half of the Scaled Division to consider the Intermediate Division moving forward. Athletes will be expected to have a baseline of gymnastics but will not be required to perform any high-skill gymnastics. Loads will be reduced to safe and manageable for all general athletes (snatch load in a workout would be 95/65 as an example). This division is not meant to be for athletes lacking any skills but to test those athletes new to the sport or maybe just not as strong or skilled as other divisions and have a competitive fire burning in their soul! This division is not easy but is designed to test your fitness at your level!

Team Captains (or whomever registers your team) will still be prompted to input a gym/affiliate that the team is representing based on their own discretion or on the amount of athletes on the team from a particular gym. You may enter Independent if your team is unaffiliated as a group or from multiple gyms.

Fitness is cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. At The 2025 Heart of America Team Competition, every team – regardless of division – will be collectively tested in each of these 10 domains.

Here’s our best piece of advice, train accordingly:

HOA will not be releasing a checklist of movements, modalities, and loads to practice and prepare for. We believe that if you are training regularly and participating at a gym with coaches and ownership who subscribe to, encourage, and incorporate performing constantly varied, functional movements at high intensity across broad time and modal domains then you, along with the guidance of those who comprise your gym’s leadership team, are already more than well-equipped to assess your current skill level and ability. Adhere to the aforementioned training method, work hard, attack your weaknesses and you will be good to go this October.
